Hi, I am Susan Hedges and I want to tell you a little about myself.
Born 3 months premature, had a lot of problems which caused my blindness and the doctors didn’t expect me to live. Well I guess I was born a fighter and I’ve been fighting ever since.
I’ve been performing regularly at festivals and events from the age of 10 accompanying myself on guitar or keyboard. I write my own songs either on my own, or with Paula Wright / Ronnie Stone.
When I was 13 I released my first album.
Myron Angel. My First Album.
This album was released by Goldrush Records when I was 13. It was recorded by Gary Hall in his Voodoo Studios. It is an acoustic album which contains 10 of my own songs. It gained wide critical acclaim and the Times called it ‘an album full of elegant songs’
Crimson Love on Velvet Black
This is my second album, also recorded in the Voodoo Studios. It is a double album containing 12 of my own songs on 1 disc and 12 songs by singer songwriters that I admire on the other disc. These include Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Townes Van Zandt, Sandy Denny and the Cowboy Junkies. This album also received great critical acclaim. Within days of it being released it was album of the month in 3 major record magazines and in a 3 page article on me in The Independent they described me as ‘a major talent on the threshold of recognition’
During this time I performed at numerous festivals and theatres and live on television programmes such as BBC Breakfast TV, and Granada Tonight. I have also appeared on national and local radio shows including ‘Woman’s Hour’ and for Prince Charles at a United Utilities corporate dinner. This was because I had written 2 songs for their educational CD-Rom promoting the value of water.
My 3rd album The Stormkeepers
This was recorded with The Stormkeepers, a Rock band consisting of Gary Hall, Martin Davies, Mark Wilkinson, Richard Curran and myself. Gary and I shared lead vocals and I played keyboard. I enjoyed my experience with the band and was determined to form one when I left school.
I am at present studying music at Liverpool Community College and will be going onto University in October to study for an Honours degree in Music. One of the first things I did at college was to form a band with other students who had a similar passion for music. We are called ‘The Other Kind’
I have also continued with my solo career gigging at festivals and various venues. I have picked up a number of awards along the way including BT’s Merseyside Woman of the Year – ‘Best Newcomer’

DadaFest ‘Young Performer of the Year’
The new album, ‘Faces Without Names’ will be out in 2006. It was produced by Ronnie Stone in his studio ‘Area 51’. It consists of 12 songs written by me, 6 in collaboration with Paula. The diversity of the tracks shows how my music has developed through my time in college and reflects the different musical influences I have come into contact with.
